- No, this site is NOT a replacement for an estate attorney. It is merely a complimentary tool meant to help you organize and ease your planning process. Please consult a proper estate attorney once you are ready to set up your will & trust legal documents.
- Is my information safe/secure?
- Yes! Your information never leaves your browser. You're the only one that can see or access it. It is stored in your browser's local storage.
- Who made this?
- Hi, I'm Zack Gilbert. I occasionally make things on the internet. I built this (with some help from my friends) because my wife & I put off doing our will & trust because it was so daunting. It was something I wanted/needed and I'm hoping others might find it useful too.
- Where's your Privacy Policy and/or Terms of Use?
- I haven't created those yet because we aren't actually collecting any of your information. Nothing leaves your browser. Once we start handling data, we will make sure to put those pages together to clearly layout what data we collect and how we do or don't use it.
- Ha! I'm not rich. This seems like rich people problems.
- Actually, you'd be surprised. This is really an exercise that EVERY adult should go through and do. And the earlier you start, the easier it is to maintain. It's usually just that people aren't motivated to organize this information until they have a life event that spawns some sense of reflection on their own morbidity (having a child, near death experience, etc). When it comes down to it: whether you realize it or not, you own assets and you should make sure SOMEONE knows what to do with those assets if something was to happen to you.
- Is this only for people based in the United States?
- While it's built by a US citizen, it isn't meant to be US specific. Our hope is that this is useful for anyone anywhere in the world. As we continue to build out our tool, we will try to make sure we add any helpful pieces for other regions as well.
